 Gurgaon is a city in the National Capital Region of India. It lies in northern India with Haryana and Delhi on the west, Faridabad and Ghaziabad on the southwest, Palwal on the south and Sonepat on the east.

Gurgaon is one of the fastest growing cities in India with a population of over 3 million people. It also has one of the best public transportation systems in Haryana.

Gurgaon stands for Greater Gurgaon which was a proposed city when Delhi was split into two new states – Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. The name was later changed to Gurgaon after its suburb to avoid confusion with New Delhi (which has been named after Maharaja Pratap Singh).

Gurgaon is a city in the National Capital Region of India, and an upcoming satellite city of Delhi. It lies in the foothills of the Aravalli range and is known as the "City of Lakes". Gurgaon is 30 km from New Delhi, 20 km from Faridabad and 35 km from Agra.

Gurgaon is also known as "The Gateway to Haryana" or "The City of Lakes", as it is surrounded by several lakes which have been developed for recreational activities such as boating, fishing, water skiing and sailing. The city also has many golf courses.

Gurgaon is one of the fastest developing cities in India. It was previously known as Gurugram until January 1, 2011 when the Union Cabinet approved renaming it as Gurugram after Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime Minister of India who was born here.

Gurgaon is located on NH-8 which connects Delhi to Kolkata, Gurgaon is convenient for people travelling by road. It is well connected by road, rail and air with all major cities like Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Patiala, Amritsar and Jalandhar. The nearest airport to Gurgaon is Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) at New Delhi which has flights to various destinations across India including Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru and Kolkata.

Gurgaon has been ranked as the fourth best destination for business travellers in Asia Pacific and ninth by the World Business Travel Association (WBT) for 2018.

It has been rated as one of the top 10 cities for hospitality sector investors worldwide by CHI India, where it has been ranked fifth among Indian cities for smart growth strategy and infrastructure development.
